Yikes. The regular price for a dozen eggs here is just over $2. High quality free range ones cost $3/dozen.
an “economy”. I call B.S.

It won’t just be Canada and Mexico. That’s just the beginning. Trump has threatened the EU and numerous other countries with tariffs. You will soon be economically isolated fighting a trade war on infinite fronts. The world now knows that they can’t trust America and that their treaties and agreements aren’t worth the paper they’re written on. This will have lasting implications that most Americans are completely oblivious to at the moment. I hope it was all worth it
I supported Trump in 2016. he was 50/50 for me in 2020 but I still held my breath and pulled the lever for the guy because Biden was an idiot. I did not vote for Trump in 2024 however nor did I vote for Harris. I sat the last one out. I no longer support Trump for he has become what he swore to destroy. so we are all going to pay the price for that. and this isn’t just some emotional outrage post or something. I have thought long and hard about this. sigh. fool me once ? shame on you. fool me twice? shame on me! I refuse to get fooled again
god i hope this doesn’t backfire too hard

We raise our own chickens and sell the extra eggs and have been for several years the locals pay $5.00 a doz. ours are free range and mostly organic fed.

I’m glad you raise your own chickens. That is going to be your saving grace, apache!
so i have been looking up tariffs through history on all of this
The last time this happened in 1930 with the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930 “The law raised the tariff by approximately 20%, prompting other countries to impose high tariffs on U.S. exports as retaliation. It led to U.S. exports falling from $7 billion in 1929 to $2.5 billion in 1932. Farm exports were down by one-third from their 1929 levels by 1933. International trade plummeted 65%.”
so this is either going to work? or we are going to get railed, hard! with no lube
We have had chickens for 20 years up and then just before covid in 2018 we got out of the business and then covid put a scare into everyone and so we decided to get another flock going as things looked dicey then and are worse now, the feed is horribly expensive compared to BEFORE Biden and even though we sell quite a few it does not even come close to breaking even, BUT the eggs taste better and according to many studies they are more healthy.
Tariffs going into effect at midnight. Mexico, Canada and china. 25 percent at least.
and now there’s this:
BREAKING: Trudeau announces 25% tariffs on US goods
this is going to be fun…
China hits back at Trump with reciprocal tariffs between 10% to 15%, sanctions of US firms
China has revealed the details of its response to new tariffs from the United States on its exports, with its commerce ministry adding a group of US firms to its export control list and another to its unreliable entity list, slapping additional tariffs of 10-15 per cent on selected American goods and announcing plans to bring a case to the World Trade Organization over the matter.
A 15 per cent duty will be applied to imports of US poultry and agricultural products including wheat, corn and cotton, the ministry said.

tbh with you guys? this isn’t going to go well…this has all gotten out of control with the chest thumping
Not high enough. Tariffs between China and U.S. should be over 500%, in my opinion.
Shut it Down.
You want to know one reason why food costs more? Because we ship it to China.
I ask you. How can prices go down if we ship our farm products to China? They can’t. Exports DESTROY natural laws of supply and demand.
If I were Potus, I would BAN exports to China of food and fuel.
WASHINGTON (AP) — China retaliated against President Donald Trump’s tariffs with an additional 15% tax on key American farm products, including chicken, pork, soybeans and beef.
