Make sure to put this to practice - don’t want SHTF to happen and only have a few printed sheets with no idea how to use

Yes the net will go down.
Certain sources tell me that the internet will go down for three days but not to worry because it’s just a reset.
Take it as a good sign.
Nonetheless, hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
moved the stuff from the other thread into here! all prepper stuff will be in here now
good info, as always here..
You could certainly take away internet access and the majority of websites for most of the population if you were powerful enough (government/military level) but not everything. Self hosting is the way to go, having a few apps running on an old computer can mean you can access some form of the internet if SHTF and the internet goes down.
the thing i always wondered was this. where do the isps get the internet from? why cant somebody get internet without having an isp? there HAS to be a place it all comes from.
To put it simply the ISPs simply act as a bridge between you and the server that the website you are visiting, with your computer sending requests to the ISP who contact the server and respond with the files.

They connect through “ISPs for the ISPs” until they get to the website, where the website will in turn return the result (run “tracert sitescroll.com” and you’ll see all the steps made to connect your to this website). These requests will be made through cables, radio waves etc across the world - see submarinecablemap.com
Thanks for the info. We need printable stuff in case the internet goes down but it seems like that stuff has things you can download and print. I would suggest getting big binders printing stuff out and putting it all in there and then you can store the binders in your closet or something

It certainly would be good to have access to the net during a crash but since I’m seriously technologically challenged, I’ll just have to ride it out and hope for the best.
When the internet is restored after a crash, it will either be excellent news awaiting us or we will be heading into an Orwellian nightmare.
i have always wondered if somebody could create a huge LAN network and make their own “internet” computer to computer in their local communities. therefore the internet of village a would be different than that of village b.
Thats certainly possible - I run a smaller version of that at home, with a full internal network (no inbound/outbound traffic from/to outside of network) for file storage (backups, films etc) for my TV and some important documents.
For a whole village you would of course need a more advanced version with enhanced security, but with the right tools and knowledge you could certainly do it
Several large companies have there own system G.E. has what they call there intranet, not internet, it is possible the problem is the feds Have a way to shut the delivery systems down and so they can shut down very large amounts of the net. The net cannot go anywhere if it does NOT have a path to follow and they cut those paths to stop it.
I have something similar in my own house. I have cables that run from my computer to my system I use as a plex server. i download what I want offline and organize it all, then tie it to my server. I can access it without having to be on the internet. it’s really awesome
