Now this is wholesome. While the media is fixated on ICE and protests, one man decided to take a step in a positive direction by volunteering to feed the community.
“I’m not here because I’m virtue-signaling or because this is a one day a year thing for me. I’m here because this is part of my regular practice of being a citizen, and I want to encourage everyone who sees this to do something like it where you live.”
So, Zimmern clocked in at “radical soup kitchen” Soup for You, cooking and serving one of his favorite recipes, “Grandma Zimmern’s Tailgating Pot of Love,” made with kielbasa and peas. He posted on Instagram about the experience on Jan. 23
“The grace that they offer their guests. You know, they serve people? You don’t line up; you sit at a table, and you’re waited on by the volunteers,” Zimmern says of the pay-what-you-can cafe. “You’re brought a tray with desserts from the same bakery that I buy my Thanksgiving pies at.”
Zimmern did this alongside a group of other volunteers, all focused on nourishing the shell-shocked community.

“Ed fought for his country, he worked his whole life, and now it’s our turn to fight for him. If you’ve ever been moved by someone’s courage, if you believe our elders and veterans deserve dignity, please consider contributing. Even sharing this story can help us reach more people who want to make a difference,” Weidenhofer wrote on the fundraiser
Not many WWII vets left. If this gentleman signed up at 18yo, it must have been in 1945 near the wars end. [Many vets in the same position then signed up for the Korean War]
What an incredible feat by anyone, much less a 13yo boy.
That area is a migratory path for great white sharks. The mother did well to keep it together.
In the same predicament I’d much prefer to swim than stay behind, treading water in the deep ocean waters, knowing that there’s great whites out there.
